Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School | Haringey, North London

Position: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Haringey, North London
Contract: Full-Time, February Half-Term Start
Day Rate: £90 - £100 per day

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in Haringey, North London. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those from vulnerable backgrounds or displaying challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and personal development.

  • Assist with classroom behaviour management as part of the school's Behaviour Team, responding to on-call situations as needed.

  • Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral staff to deliver effective intervention strategies.

  • Implement and promote positive behaviour management approaches throughout the school.

  • Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships to enhance student engagement and well-being.

  • Monitor and track student progress and well-being, liaising with staff and parents as required.

  • Work with external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students.

What We Are Looking For:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or from vulnerable backgrounds.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.

  • Knowledge of youth work principles and experience in educational or community settings.

  • Ability to manage behaviour effectively and deliver tailored interventions.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Support Assistant, or Youth Worker.

  • Understanding of mental health support strategies and safeguarding practices.

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, behavioural management, or educational support.
