A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to make a real impact in a vibrant school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students with SEND, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
Work closely with teaching staff to implement learning strategies and interventions.
Assist with classroom activities, helping to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Offer one-to-one and small-group support, adapting approaches to suit individual student needs.
Foster students' confidence, independence, and social development.
Collaborate with the SENCO and wider pastoral team to monitor progress and provide feedback.
Maintain a safe and positive learning atmosphere in line with school policies.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
Experience supporting students with SEND is essential.
A valid DBS on the update service is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive and patient approach to supporting young learners.
Commitment to the role for the remainder of the academic year.
