About the Role:


A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Kirkby is looking for a dedicated Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 7th October 2024. This exciting role involves supporting the teaching and learning of Year 5 pupils, helping to create a stimulating, engaging environment that fosters academic progress and personal development.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide individualised support, assist with classroom management, and contribute to both the academic and social well-being of the students. The role is ideal for someone passionate about helping older primary school children reach their full potential during this key stage in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons that align with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils, especially in core subjects like literacy, numeracy, and science.
  • Assisting in the preparation of classroom materials and maintaining a positive, stimulating learning environment.
  • Encouraging the social and emotional development of Year 5 pupils by promoting positive behaviour and fostering an inclusive classroom culture.
  • Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to aid in planning.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN), to help them achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Supervising students during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and school staff to support the overall well-being and academic growth of the pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 2 (KS2).
  • A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to working with older primary pupils.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and science.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with school policies.
