SEN Teaching Assistant

Tradewind are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant with experience working with children with Special Educational Needs for an OFSTED 'Outstanding' rated three-form entry primary school in Barking & Dagenham. This would be a full-time, long-term post starting in June 2024 and will last until the end of the academic year with possibility for extension into September 2024.

Supporting a Year 2 child with Autism, you will play a crucial yet rewarding role in supporting their learning and will encourage them to make positive life choices. This role would require someone who would be confident working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and has experience working with children with SEN. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children and will be able to build a strong rapport with the child quickly.

Located in Barking & Dagenham, this is a three-form entry school with a vibrant, lively and caring atmosphere. As a school, they aim to promote curiosity and enjoyment in learning by using a variety of approaches including drama, film, technology, real-life experiences and outdoor learning to name a few. Taking annual trips to pantomimes and theatres, holding partnerships with local artists and professional actors, and visits to museums and galleries, they are keen to broaden children's experiences and to be reward children for their hard work. With a desire for children to feel valued and confident as individuals and ensure they feel supported, safe and cared for, this really is a wonderful school to work in.

The primary school has parking on-site and is easily accessible by both bus and train.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people, not necessarily in a school setting.
  • Have a warm and nurturing approach when working with children.
  • Be confident working with children with challenging behaviour.
  • Have experience working with children with SEN.
  • Confident leading small group work.
  • Available 8.30 - 3.30, Monday to Friday
  • Live within commutable distance of Barking & Dagenham.
