EYFS Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant
Job Description: As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Working closely with our EYFS teachers, you will assist in the delivery of a play-based curriculum that fosters children's social, emotional, and academic development.
Responsibilities:
- Support EYFS teachers in planning and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning across all areas of the EYFS curriculum.
- Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where children feel secure to explore and express themselves.
- Provide individualised support to children, helping them develop key skills such as communication, language, and early literacy and numeracy.
- Encourage children's curiosity, creativity, and independence through hands-on activities and play experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents/guardians to support children's progress and well-being, providing regular feedback and updates.
- Assist with the observation and assessment of children's learning, maintaining accurate records and contributing to the evaluation of teaching and learning strategies.
- Support the implementation of EYFS policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines and safeguarding practices.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young children in an early years setting, preferably as a teaching assistant or nursery practitioner.
- A passion for early childhood education and a commitment to providing high-quality care and learning experiences for young children.
- Knowledge of the EYFS framework and principles of child development, with the ability to adapt activities to meet the individual needs and interests of children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with young children.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education) would be advantageous but not essential.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
